LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – South Plains Food Bank, a leading organization committed to addressing hunger and food insecurity, is excited to announce our upcoming partnership with Vista Bank. Texas owned and operated for over a century, Vista Bank will be providing mobile pantry boxes in four of our rural communities for twelve months. Supported communities will include Hale Center, Abernathy, Lorenzo, and Ralls.
At South Plains Food Bank, we know food is a crucial connector for families year-round, but especially challenging during the summer months. Simply put, while children are out of school, they have less access to food and nutrition. Parents with children on the free and reduced lunch program must typically provide an extra ten meals per week per child. To combat this, the South Plains Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry Program provides access to much-needed food in nineteen counties throughout the South Plains.
“We are very grateful for Vista Bank and for their steadfast support and partnership in our mission to provide food in our rural communities. Their commitment to making a difference in the communities they serve will bless countless families.” Said Denise Rudd Chief Community Impact Officer.
“Vista is focused on financial literacy and training others to fish, while providing them with a quality pond,” noted John D. Steinmetz, President & CEO of Vista Bank. “That said, it’s hard to learn when you are hungry. Providing food for these families, especially those with small children in the home, alongside materials and financial training is the hand-up type of support parents need to build a brighter future for their children and grandchildren.”
